Everything you need to know about DEF certifications and compliance standards

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is a non-toxic solution made from 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. It’s injected into diesel exhaust systems to reduce NOx emissions—a crucial step to meet environmental regulations and ensure clean air compliance.

Absolutely. DEF is safe—non-flammable, non-toxic, and non-hazardous. However, it should be stored between 10 °C and 30 °C in original, sealed containers away from direct sunlight to maintain its efficacy.

Simply pour DEF into your vehicle’s DEF tank (usually marked with a blue cap) using a dedicated DEF pump or container. The onboard system mixes it with exhaust gas during operation. Refer to your equipment’s manual for fill frequency and tank capacity.

DEF is produced to meet ISO 22241 standards and AdBlue® specifications. This ensures purity, concentration, and performance. DEF that meets these specs helps prevent SCR system damage and ensures optimal emissions reduction.
